Research Interests:
Dr. Woolhiser's research has primarily focused on the area of Immunotoxicology. A major emphasis has been the investigation of allergy potential for industrial chemicals and biotechnologically-derived traits. His laboratory is working to evaluate methods by which one might better characterize lymphocyte-proliferating responses for chemicals and proteins, particularly as it relates to respiratory allergy versus contact dermatitis. The lab has also conducted flow cytometry research for purposes of advancing methods by which to gauge functional responsiveness of natural killer cells, as well as (pulmonary) macrophages. Dr Woolhiser also has a research interest in advancing the use of in silico Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) methodology for purposes of describing the toxicological profile of drugs and chemicals.

Educational Background:
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, Ph.D., Pharmacology and Toxicology, 1999
Michigan State University, B.S., College of Natural Sciences, Biology, 1991

Selected Professional Activities:
Dr. Woolhiser is currently a Science and Technology Leader for the Toxicology and Environmental Research and Consulting function at The Dow Chemical Company.
