Workshops
The MSU CIT Superfund Program, Research Translation Core, is hosting a one-day workshop on September 19, 2007 at the MSU Kellogg Center to review and exchange ideas concerning the findings of the recently releases studies by the National Academy of Science and the World Health Organization on dioxin and dioxin-like compounds, and how these findings may be used in formulating national and international environmental policies and regulations. As part of the Superfund Basic Research Program grant to MSU from the National Institute of Environmental Health Science, this workshop is being provided free-of-charge to all participants, but seating capacity is limited. Position
Vacancies are available in Bethesda, Maryland and Montgomery County, Maryland for an Interdiscipinarian with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (DMID) located in the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). The incumbent advises on and participates in the regulatory surveillance over all scientific and ethical issues relating to the use of animals in the drug development process. Applicants must have successfully completed all requirements for a Ph.D or M.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in an accredited college or university; or have successfully completed a full-4 year course of study in an academic field of the health or pertinent sciences which has been applied and utilized by the applicant in health or health-related research and, in addition, at least 1 year of qualifying progressively responsible experience; or any equivalent combination of graduate study and research experience in these fields. Applicants must demonstrate that they have (1) worked independently in planning, organizing, and conducting biomedical, behavioral health, or health-related research; (2) served effectively in research program administration in these fields; and (3) acquired an understanding of the history, interests, internal dynamics, and relationships of organizations in which health research is conducted. In addition to the basic requirements, all applicants must meet the specialized experience requirement outlined: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Education and/or Experience in Veterinary Medicine is highly desired. You must submit a copy of your transcripts before midnight on the closing date or ensure that your resume includes sufficient detail (i.e., required course title, credit hours and grades) to document that you have met the education requirements.
