Travel Funds for Trainees in the Environmental and Integrative Toxicological Sciences (EITS) Graduate Program
The Center for Integrative Toxicology (CIT) is pleased to announce that travel funds will be available on a competitive basis to help defray the cost for trainee's in the Environmental and Integrative Toxicological Sciences Graduate Program to attend a national conference, workshop or meeting. The primary objective of the funds is to enhance scientific knowledge specifically pertinent to the student's area of training or dissertation research by attending a meeting in a focused and/or specialized area (e.g., Gordon Conference, Keystone Conference, FASEB Summer Conference, etc). Preference will be given to trainees who have successfully completed their comprehensive/qualifying exams and who will be presenting a paper at the meeting. A trainee requesting travel funds should provide: (a) a brief statement discussing how attending the meeting/workshop/conference will enhance his/her research or graduate studies; (b) indicate whether he/she will be presenting, and if so, include a draft copy of the abstract submission; and (c) provide a brief letter of support from his/her advisor. Funding will be on a cost-sharing basis whereby the CIT will contribute 75% of the funds up to $1,500 to help defray the costs associated with travel, per diem, registration, and lodging with the remaining 25% provided by the student's mentor/research advisor. The CIT anticipates making two or three awards each semester. The deadline for submitting applications in the Fall is November 15th, and the Spring deadline is March 15th. Inquires, as well as applications, should be made to Norb Kaminski (kamins11@msu.edu), 3-3786.
