Research Interests:
Dr. Bauer has research interests in the role of the innate immune system in mouse and human pulmonary inflammation and tumorigenesis; the mechanisms of environmental lung carcinogenesis; chemoprevention of lung carcinogenesis; and the mechanisms downstream of TLR4 ozone-induced lung injury/inflammation.

Selected Professional Activities:
Dr. Bauer has held two postdoctoral fellowships. The first was with the CIIT Centers for Health Research on the mechanism of benzene-induced carcinogenesis. The second was with the National Institute of Environmental Health Science on environmental lung genetics and the innate immune system. She was presented with the best poster award by the Genotoxicity and Environmental Mutagen Society in 2001. She is the past recipient of several travel scholarships and was awarded the University of Colorado's Norman Weiner Award for Excellence in Research. She belongs to the Society of Toxicology and is a peer reviewer for Toxicological Sciences, Cancer Therapy, American Journal of Pathology, Physiological Genomics and the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.
